I went from being a malnourished, underweight athlete with no period at 17 years old…

…to an injured, irregular menstruating female with a changing body that became foreign to me, struggling with a multitude of health issues, and no clue what to do about it.
At the time, the seemingly only option was to regain regularity with hormonal birth control. But that only worsened things- mood swings, weight gain, depression, and anxiety became my new normal. 

After a few years, I decided I’d had enough. I went off the pill only to be faced with a nearly absent period and no improvement to the rest of my PMS symptoms and hormonal imbalances. Turns out, PCOS was the problem. 

And to my dismay, the only answer the doctor had for me was…you guessed it, to go BACK on the pill. A bandaid that simply masked the root of the problem. 

The conventional medicine approach wasn’t working. 

I did everything I could think of (and I mean everything) to take matters into my own hands and try to improve my own health. That’s when I turned to functional medicine, and my real healing journey began…
